Hello, I'm a new member,I am not french, and I do not speak the language well at all, though i have joined for a specific perpose.

Please tell me if this is not allowed. I will delete this post.

My name is Georgia, and I am from Australia. Currently, I am in the research step of writing a perspective piece for university, which i am to have done mid next year. I am going to write on the way love/relationship ideals and morals differ around the world.

I am actually looking for people, men and women, who live in france to interview about the way relationships, love and sex fit into the everyday life of a French person, and most inportanly, the ideals, boundries, infidelity, faithfulness, and morals that surround love and relationships.

I am not at all suggesting that all these do or do not differ from love in my culture, but i am trying to get a real perspective, rather than assuming.

So, this ad is directed at everyone, who lives ina french community, it doesn't actually have to be france. I am looking for people in long-term relationships, new relationships, singles, married, divorced, widowed, ect. Everyone.

Now, I must insist that anyone who contacts me know the follow restrictions:

I cannot pay you, I am only asking for volunteers.
I cannot meet you. it will be a simple e-mail to e-mail.
You must be of conseting age, which i think is 16, but please let me know.
and, because I'm so bad at french, the interview will take place in english, so you must be able to speak it to a reasonalbe amount.
I also cannot promise I will let you read the piece, but I can promise that I will not identify you individualy in it.

Please consider this, I will be so greatful.

if you are interested, e-mail me at: georgiaface@gmail.com

thank you all so much.

Hi ,

I'm writing a graduation thesis about individualism in French and English-speaking countries now and I'd really appreciate if you'd give me your opinion:

list at least three assosiations which come up to ur head when u hear the word "individualism".
Please, answer in French if you are from a French speaking country and in English if you are from an English speaking country

Thank you a lot for your help :)

8:37 pm - Is there anybody out there?

eathlings

8:12 am - New group for TEFL teachers

judeinfrench
Hey to all of you. I hope this is OK to put on here, if not, mods can remove it.

I've started a group for all the TEFL teachers out there who are based in France. I thought it might be nice to have a little place for us to talk about our experiences with TEFL teaching, give advice, ask questions and share ideas that worked... or didn't :).

You can find the groupe at tefl_in_france and all are welcome.

Thanks

I don't understand this sentence:
L'association Droits des non fumeurs s'est vu accorder par la cour d'appel de Rennes 1.000 euros à titre de réparation morale.

Did they really get money? I thought that they had nothing to do with the case that was discussed in the article, it doesn't seem to make sense. Them paying the court sounds even more unlikely, that would be practically bribery.

If you could explain me if that "réparation morale" is some kind of fixed term or just why the association got money, I'd be most grateful.

The whole article hereCollapse )

I'm a level 2 French student at my school, and our Madame is taking us to France this coming summer. I'm only a level 2, and I'm starting to get a little nervous about how much French I can and cannot speak.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestings? I mean..Yeah. I'd really like to be a bit more advanced in the language before I go to the country, but seeing as I'm a senior and this is the only trip going;; there just isn't a possibility of me speaking fluently.

Please help!

9:44 pm - Les nouveaux amis, peut-être?

n_importe_quoi
Salut!

Salut!

I'm trying to brush up my French a bit and was wondering if there would be someone in this community who posts mainly in French and wouldn't mind me snooping their entries (aka friending them)... I'm looking for more or less neutral register texts, so I'd hope a possible replier wouldn't use too much slang in their entries.

Usht, I'm really tired at the moment but please have a look at my profile and see if you think you could bear with me.

Merci!

Hey guys,

I'm so glad I found these communities! ; p
I moved from Montreal to Toronto about 10 years ago, and without any french people around to speak with, I find that I've lost most of my french/my confidence in speaking it. I've been practicing a lot lately, but it's so hard without anyone around who actually speaks it, or who can correct me.
I can read it almost perfectly (every now and then I will find a couple of words that I don't remember the meaning of, but I'll understand the overall meaning of the sentence), and can understand it when spoken, given that the person is talking slow enough, but my french speaking skills are not the best at all. I sometimes have to think for a while before I find the right word (and it's still probably wrong), and I stumble through many sentences.
I'm looking for someone who I could correspond with through msn or e-mails and letters, and someone who wouldn't mind sending me some old french books or magazines now and then, since it's next to impossible to find any here.
Any replies would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks so much in advance <3

Jen

4:31 pm - Poetry... help

songeuse
Hey all. I've got a paper due on a poem, and I've chosen "La Source" out of them. I suck at poetry in English, so needless to say, I'm having some trouble with understanding exactly what the author is saying... I've interjected my attempts at translating the poem into English, but I have a feeling I'm not getting it right, especially the 6th stanza. If anyone can help with a better translation or an explanation of what the 6th stanza is saying, I would be very thankful!
